New Allergies

Can You Develop Allergies as an Adult?

Can you develop allergies as an adult?

Can you develop new allergies as an adult?  Yes, it is not unusual to start experiencing an allergy to something as an adult, even foods or plants that have never been an issue before.  Symptoms of allergies include:

  • sinus congestion
  • sneezing
  • headaches
  • runny nose
  • itchy skin and eyes
  • unexplained fatigue
  • skin rashes

There is no clear reason why some people develop allergies in adulthood, some possible reasons include:

  • moving from one geographic region to another
  • exposure to new vegetation and weather conditions
  • family history of allergies
  • aging may weaken your immune system, which can allow an allergen that may have caused a weak response in childhood to become more pronounced.  This can also happen during pregnancy or during immune compromising illness
  • having a pet for the first time, or getting a new type of pet
  • leaky gut syndrome

You do not have to live with allergies, avoid the allergen or take prescription medicines to control these new allergies, Dr. Cushing’s AllerCease technique successfully tests for and eliminates allergies from many sources including:

  • environmental sources including pollens, dust, and molds for example
  • pet hair/dander/saliva
  • foods and chemicals
  • weather conditions especially changes in barometric pressure

It is also beneficial to boost your immune system, to not only prevent developing new allergies, but for your general health and well-being.  Your immune system will benefit from you:

  • developing good sleep habits
  • eating a varied diet rich in organic vegetables and fruits
  • supplementation with high grade supplements; best prescribed by a nutritionally educated physician or chiropractor
  • daily moderate exercise
