Laboratory Testing is a vital aspect of our services. We are proud to offer state of the art, FDA approved labs to test for a variety of conditions not typically tested for in a traditional medical offices.
What we test for?
Treating each patient as an individual Dr. Cushing does not suggest the same laboratory testing for all. However, when clinically called for we offer laboratory testing for

How do we test?
Depending on the condition under investigation different types of laboratory testing is available. We utilize the following for our testing:
- saliva
- stool
- urine testing
The patient pays for the test in the office then takes home the test kit to complete in privacy and dependent on your schedule for convenience. When completed the patient simply mails the test to the lab with a prepaid label. When the testing is complete the lab notifies our office for review.
Blood testing is done by prescription, you may use the lab of your choice to have the blood drawn. Once all tests are completed by the lab, your results are faxed to us to review at your follow up appointment.
Your previous blood tests are also reviewed, MRI’s, Scans and X-rays to give Dr. Cushing a holistic view of your medical history. These laboratory tests may be faxed or emailed to us before your appointment, or brought in with you on the day of your appointment.
Blood Chemistry Testing
Our office orders blood testing from a functional medicine view-point. Unlike most traditional medical doctors who test to see if you are out of their pharmaceutical driven “normal”ranges. Holistic medicine considers that what is in “normal” range for one patient is not necessarily in range for another. Most MD’s are not taught to look for the cause of your symptoms, only how to treat the symptom picture, therefore this can sometimes make your symptoms worse or add unwanted side-effects. Dr. Cushing often recommends blood testing for his patient that may appear, “outside of the medical box” to get to the cause of your illness.
Finally, after you have been to your M.D. and completed their narrowly focused tests, and are told everything is in range and have been assured that there is nothing to worry about. Pyroluria Testing
This Test is for patients who are suffering from:
This simple test uses blood and urine to find out whether a patient has Pyroluria. This test is available through DHA Laboratories. The urine is collected by the patient at home and sent overnight to a specialized lab, the blood draw is taken by a preferred lab and sent to the specialized lab handling the urine test.
Dr. Cushing has been through the specialized training in diagnosing and treating this condition, and once diagnosed Pyroluria can be alleviated using simple nutrient supplementation.
